I have just been on holiday again. We have been to Cabo de Gata in Almeria. We had a great time and they let me off the lead for one of the walks and I really had a good time and would not go back to them when they got back to the campervan. Cyril eventually tried to catch me and walked after me until I finally got cornered at the harbor and I had to make the decision as to whether I should let him put the lead on me or jump into the water in the harbor. Well as I am allergic to water I just sat down and let him put the lead on me. The next day we walked to a beach and while they sunbathed I was left to walk about with my long lead on which stops me from running off as it’s like being a prisoner on a ball and chain. I had a great time digging holes all over the beach as there was nobody else on there all the time we were there. Went shopping today as it was raining and they bought my a nice neckerchief, think it looks a bit too posh for me what do you think?

First trip to France

Me and my best mate Tilley have just been on holiday to France, It is the first time for both of us. We were really excited. It all started with the usual chaos of loading up the campervan. This time we had extra passengers besides Chris & Cyril we had Pat & Edna (Tilley’s mum & nana). We took 2 days to get to France stopping overnight on the outskirts of Valencia. Pat & Edna slept in a posh hotel we stayed in the campervan with Chris & Cyril. The next day we arrived at Pat’s friends in France and this time we had the campervan to ourselves as all the people slept in the house. We had a great time but heavy rain kept us awake most of the night. The next day we left Pat & Edna with their friends in France and went off in the campervan with Chris & Cyril to do some walking. We went to Mont-Louis then drove about 10k up a narrow road to Lac des Bouillouses where it was very cold a raining, maybe it was because we were at a height of 2005 meters brrrr. We stayed there the night and were going for a walk in the morning but when we woke up it was snowing so we went foe a drive instead. We drove into and through Andorra. We had some trauma when we crossed the border from France into Andorra as Tilley realized that she had left her passport with Pat so as we approached the border we got Chris & Cyril to put us both in the shower and guess what they drove straight through without being stopped. Andorra was a bit dull with just ski resorts and shops and it was cloudy so we just stopped for a quick comfort break. Leaving Andorra back into Spain we also had a problem they put us in the shower again. Chris was driving and thought we should go in the lane for buses as there was a big queue of cars in the other lane, but a man came out and stopped us and had a look in the campervan but he didn’t look in the shower and we kept really quiet, phew that was lucky I didn’t fancy losing my mate Tilley in quarantine for six months. So in one day we went from France through Andorra and then into Spain.

The next day we went for a 10 mile walk which was 5 miles up hill, we had to pose for a photo shoot on the top. We were so tired when we got back to the van that we just ate some food then crashed out for the night. Happy days.

The next day we did another walk but a bit shorter this time through a big forest, we met a Dutch man who was collecting mushrooms and I barked at him but he didn’t look very scared when he saw me, good job I was on the lead or I would have had him. We then moved on to a place called Olot , there was not a lot to say about the place apart from Cyril driving the campervan through a barrier into an area that was only for buses and we could not get out until a bus came in. Olot was surrounded by volcanoes which we were walking round the next day, we didn’t like Olot a lot so we drove to Santa Pau where we found a car park for Autocars so we stayed the night there as we seem to be classed as a bus now. The next day we did a nice walk round the volcanoes along lovely forest paths but I was in for a shock as when we were walking passed a field I touched a fence and had an electric shock which was not nice at all, I wont be doing that again in a hurry.

The next day we drove on to a place called Besalu, we parked on the outskirts of the village and walked in the Deemings seem to like it , it was a very old village with a 13th century bridge and old village walls. We walked over the bridge and two men were playing music so I didn’t bark at them. We then drove on the Figueres they were going on about visiting the Dali museum, dogs were not allowed in there so me and Tilley got left in the van which was OK because we had a good sleep. They came back and raved on about this crazy artist and how good the museum was yawn yawn. We drove on to Cadaques which is on the Costa Brava they didn’t take us to the beach but hopefully we will do that tomorrow because I love the sand! Tilley is excited because we are going back into France tomorrow to be back with her mum and nana she says she has missed them. The next day we went to Portlligat to see Salvidor Dali’s house we left Tilley in the campervan and I went with Chris and Cyril to the house via a little walk along the beach. I didn’t get to go in the house as dogs were not allowed in so they tied me up outside and I spent the time barking at people who kept saying that I had big ears!! After that we drove back into France, we had to hide in the shower again but we were not stopped this time. It was good to see Pat & Edna again and we slept in the campervan but this time Chris & Cyril joined us as there was no room in the house in France. The next two days we traveled back home without any problems. So now I have been to France and Andorra and had a really good holiday.

Well after 6 days in the olive groves without any food I decided to go back to the Deemings. After looking for me every day and me running away they had brought the campervan to the olive groves where I had been hiding. They found me again last night but I just walked away again. But at 5am this morningI decided that I could not go on any longer after 6 days without food so I went to the campervan and my best friend Tilley woke up the deemings and when they opened the door I just went into the campervan and they put the lead on me and I just lay down and had a kip. The Deemings went back to sleep also and when they woke up they gave me loads of food then took me for a walk. When they got me home they gave me a wash and I felt a lot better.

Just to let you know that I have run away from home. I may not be back as I am enjoying wondering around the olive groves in the campo not far from Iznajar. The Deemings have been trying to catch me for 4 days but I wont let them anywhere near me. I am getting a bit hungry at the moment so I may give in soon. If I dont give in then this is probably the last time I will talk to you as there aren't many computers in the olive grove.

Think im getting the hang of things now the Deemings took me for a walk the other day and they decided to let me off the lead again. So I had a great run around in the olive grove and went back to them for a treat twice and they seemed happy with that. I didn't give in straight away when they wanted to put me back on the lead but only messed them about a little bit so I heard them say 9 out of 10 whatever that means..........speak to you all soon

Holiday in Almeria

Saturday 23nd January 2010.
Happy New Year to you all. Sorry I haven't seen you for a while I have been away for a few days. We went down to Almeria to walk the coastal path along the 'Cabo de Gata' to escape the rain in Trabuco. The first day we walked along the coast to La Almadraba Monteleva passing a bird santuary where we saw some flamingoes then on to a salt mine and finally to La Fabriquilla which was like a ghost town no cafe open for a cafe con leche. Had to go back to the first village for a cafe but it said "no perros" but I gave the lady behind the bar a nice smile and she let me in. That night we stayed on a carpark with some dutch people. The next day we went to San Jose because Cyril and Chris kept saying to each other do you know the way to San Jose well thats what they kept singing all the time it was getting on my nerves after a while. We didnt stay in the village we drove along a track to a beach called playa monsul. We had lunch then walked up to an 18th century watchtower called Vigia Vela Blanca. The next day we walked from the beach to San Jose. We went to an internet cafe for lunch it was a bit trendy for the Deemings they made me sit outside. When we got back to the campervan the Deemings let me off on the beach which took me by surprise as they haven't done that for ages and I just stood there for a few minutes then I remembered what I do so I ran off up into the dunes and found a nice young couple and gave them a good barking at which they thought was funny. There was also a little boy running around the dunes so I chased him for a bit. I still didn't want to get back to the campervan and Chris had to come and get me but I soon gave up. The next day we drove to San Jose and went on a big walk to Los Escullos and back. The next day we went to Rodalquilar to do another big walk and look at some gold mines ( I wasnt that interested but the Deemings seemed to like it). That night we changed plans as we had to drive to Las Negras to find a shop as the Deemings had run out of wine. We then went home the next day I don't remeber much about the journey as I was asleep all the way. The Deemings were busy unloading the campervan and they left the front door open so I saw my opportunity to escape. So I ran down into the village for a couple of hours but it started getting dark and I hadn't had any tea so I went back home and got them to open the front door and let me in. Had my tea and went to bed. A couple of days later we went a walk on the tracks around Trabuco it was great there was lots of muddy puddles for me to play in but towards the end of the walk I did make one mistake, I saw a nice puddle and jumped in but I ended up to my neck in mud and I knew that there would be an early bath for me when I got back home. But just before we finished the walk we crossed a bridge over a small river as I was just standing looking at it the next thing I knew Cyril pushes me in, it was a good job I had a good strong lead on as it was a fast flowing really freezing river and Cyril managed to drag me out before I disappered under the bridge. Anyway it did the trick and I was now clean again but freezing my butt off but at least I avoided the early bath when I got home.
see you soon
love Scooby
